Where are Warhammer 40,000: Boltgun 2 save files?
Warhammer 40,000: Boltgun 2 stores its saves in the folder below. The path comes from the game's own Steam Cloud settings, so it matches the Steam version.
Save folder
Windows
<Steam library>\steamapps\common\Boltgun2\Boltgun2\Saved\SaveGames\<SteamID64>
Files: *.sav
Steam Deck / Linux (Proton)
~/.local/share/Steam/steamapps/common/Boltgun2/Boltgun2/Saved/SaveGames/<SteamID64>
Save folder
Windows
%LOCALAPPDATA%\Boltgun2\Saved\SaveGames\<SteamID64>
Files: *.sav
Steam Deck / Linux (Proton)
~/.local/share/Steam/steamapps/compatdata/3115160/pfx/drive_c/users/steamuser/AppData/Local/Boltgun2/Saved/SaveGames/<SteamID64>
Paste the Windows path into the File Explorer address bar or the Run box (Win + R): %LOCALAPPDATA% and the other variables open the right folder for your account.
<SteamID64> and <Steam3 ID> stand for a folder named after your Steam account; there is usually just one. <Steam library> is the drive folder where Steam installs games (by default C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam).
Steam Cloud also keeps a copy of these saves. Turn it off for this game (Properties → General) before you restore an old backup, or Steam may put the cloud version back.
Back up your saves before using a cheat table
- Close the game completely.
- Open the save folder above.
- Copy the whole folder to another place, for example a "Backups" folder on your desktop, and add the date to its name.
- Start the game, then load the table in Cheat Engine. Keep the copy until you are sure your progress is fine.
Restore a backup
- Close the game and turn off Steam Cloud for it if it is on.
- Delete or rename the current save folder.
- Copy your backup back to the same place, with the same folder name.
- Start the game and load the save; turn Steam Cloud back on afterwards.
